David Goodson Shares His Amazing Story!

Josh: Hi, this is Josh from the Double Vision Conditioning Centre and I am sat here with David Goodson, who has been a client at the Double Vision Conditioning Centre for quite a few months now, and in that time has had some life changing results.

I will pass you over to David… so, David, would you mind telling us how old you are and how long you have been training at the DVCC?

DavidDavid: I am 51 and I have been here since the middle of July, so about 3.5 to 4 months.

Josh: And, in that short amount of time, can you tell us how much fat you have actually *lost?

David: Around 30lbs

Josh: That is a considerable amount! We will attach a photo of David to this, so you can see exactly how much that equates to in terms of waist size, in trousers.

Going back to before you were a client at the DVCC, can you just explain a little bit about your day, your eating habits, your lifestyle habits?

David: I tend to work in an office; I travel around a bit, so I do quite a bit of driving, or commuting to London. I guess I always thought I ate healthily and tried to have quite a healthy diet, my wife likes to eat a healthy diet; but I was certainly still eating a fair amount of carbs and sugar. My wife is gluten intolerant so we didn’t eat a huge amount of gluten, we ate gluten free pasta and that sort of thing, but I guess a fairly typical diet if I’m totally honest, a few drinks every now and then.

Josh: Did you exercise at all back then?

David: Virtually nothing; I have two dogs, only had one at that time, so I regularly walked the dog, but never really enjoyed sport or exercise.

Josh: What was the catalyst or the thing that first made you want to come in to the DVCC?

David: I had been trying to diet a little bit to *lose weight for a holiday in the summer; I had *lost a couple of *pounds but realised that I wasn’t going to *lose it all by diet and now was the time to do something about it. I knew someone else who had been here and had good results, so one day I thought I would just go for it.

Josh: Describe how you felt initially when you first came to the DVCC.

David:  I guess I was a bit apprehensive, was not sure what to expect. I had looked quite a while ago, probably last year, so signed up for emails so regularly got emails and thought ‘I must do something about that one day’. Then I was at home with some time to myself and I think I booked it that same day and just decided to come in and have a chat with you.

Josh: So it was a bit of a slow burn… and if you can remember back that far – how did you feel a few weeks into your journey at the DVCC?

David: A few weeks in, I was very relaxed; I enjoyed coming here and I think I saw some fairly quick results, which was encouraging. I found eating ok, so didn’t struggle to eat the right things and I liked the structure of the programme, in terms of getting it booked in the diary and coming 3 or 4 days a week and getting into a bit of a routine.

Josh:  I know you are very busy and are quite often running around in London; so how have you managed to fit in those sessions around your work?

David: I worked out what were the best days for me, to fit around my own work and my wife’s working commitments, and just tend to get those scheduled in fairly far in advance. But I guess the other thing I like is the fact that if I am running late I can just send you a text and push it back 30 minutes to an hour; there’s usually the flexibility to do that.

Josh:   Going back to the food, what specific changes have you made since before you were a client?

David: Cut out carbs more or less completely, certainly for the first 2-3 months. Cut out any biscuits, cakes, chocolate and most alcohol – not that I drank a lot but I was probably having a couple of beers 2 or 3 nights a week, so I cut that out completely for quite a while. They were the main changes. We always ate quite a lot of meat and vegetables anyway, and so we supplemented that and made sure we ate that sort of food.

Josh:   And also, testament to this and something which I know from speaking to you and I am very impressed with, is that when you did go on holiday, you actually managed to *lose body fat whilst you were away, so can you tell us a little bit about that experience whilst you were on holiday?

David: The holiday came fairly early into my time here, so probably only after about 6 weeks, and I’d seen fairly good results so I was adamant that I wasn’t going to put it back all back on in a couple of weeks. I had a couple of beers and decided actually I didn’t need them. My wife doesn’t drink regularly anyway, so it wasn’t like I was being unsociable. I had a few glasses of wine every now and again. On the ‘all you can eat’ buffet, I stayed away from the cheese, just didn’t go there, and had probably the odd dessert during the time we were there, whereas normally I would have had 3 or 4 desserts and a plate of cheese.

Josh:   Good, so those habits remained consistent when you were away. And also another interesting thing is that you actually suffered an injury whilst training at DVCC. Can you tell us first what happened?

David: I pulled a muscle in my leg and on investigation I think it was probably because I hadn’t done a huge amount of exercise for a long time and therefore I strained certain bits of my body that I wasn’t using properly, I don’t know. But what you did was adapt all the exercises so I kept coming and just did things sitting down for a little while and gradually built that up.

Josh:   That’s a great thing, it didn’t actually impact your training and actually it hasn’t impeded your fat *loss at all, despite for a few weeks not being able to do the exercise we initially planned for you.

David: I have only just started doing the rowing again; I was doing all the muscle stretches and stuff, so I guess that had dropped off quite a bit.

Josh:   Excellent. To sum up, how is your life different, how do you feel different now as opposed to 6 months ago when you weren’t a client at DVCC?

David: I certainly feel healthier because I have got more energy, I sleep much better, I enjoy getting compliments from people and I’ve got more or less a whole new wardrobe! It’s been an expensive time!

Josh:   Always a little bit of a bonus, but Christmas is coming so hopefully some people are listening to this and are feeling generous!

So, before we close, lastly, what advice could you give to people who may have been in the same position as you who want to *lose a bit of weight, especially considering we have Christmas and New Year coming up, what advice would you give them?

David: I would say don’t hesitate, I probably waited too long, should have done it before and I’m glad I’ve done it now – so just go for it!

Josh:   Excellent. Thank you very much and we have been with David Goodson from the DVCC. I hope you found that interesting and hope that some people out there learned a little bit and can implement some of that to help their own results. So, thank you for listening, bye!
