We want people who care, follow through, and win as a team.

At The Training Gyms, we help adults over 40 become stronger, fitter and more confident through structured, coached training. Many of the people who walk through our doors have never felt at home in a gym. Every role here, on the gym floor or on the phone, exists to help them start, stay and succeed. We bring positive energy, stay honest about our numbers, and coach each other to improve every week.

01

You care about the person first.

Our members are adults over 40, and many feel nervous about starting. You listen before you talk and treat every conversation like it matters, because to them it does.

02

You bring positive energy.

You bring warmth, encouragement and belief to the people around you, even when the day is difficult. Our members should feel supported, not judged.

03

You follow the process without sounding like a robot.

We use clear systems so nothing falls through the cracks. You follow them every time while still sounding like a real person.

04

You own your numbers.

Activity is not the same as results. You know your numbers, face them honestly and take responsibility for improving them.

05

You want feedback.

You are comfortable having your work reviewed, including your calls. You take coaching, apply it quickly and come back better.

06

You pursue personal and professional excellence.

You take pride in how you show up, communicate and complete your work. You look for ways to improve the experience for members and teammates.

How we work together

One central team

We are building one central team across all five locations, so members receive the same high standard whether they train in Bedford or St Albans. Some roles are gym-based. Others, including our phone team, are fully remote. Wherever you work, you are expected to bring positive energy and support the people around you.

Coached every week

We review calls, share what is working and coach openly. You will receive honest, specific feedback, and you will be expected to use it. Improving is not optional. It is how we work.

Results over activity

We measure outcomes: members started, members renewed and members helped. We also expect personal and professional excellence in the details behind those outcomes. Every result is recorded so we can see what is working. No politics, excuses or hiding.

What we value

Positive Energy

You bring positive energy each day, even when life makes it hard. Our members should feel more confident and encouraged after interacting with you.

Coachability

You want to learn, welcome feedback and improve quickly. We coach every day because getting better is part of the job, not something reserved for new starters.

Personal and Professional Excellence

You take pride in doing things properly, whether anyone is watching or not. You bring the care, reliability and attention to detail that our members and teammates deserve.

Phone Sales Closer & Renewals Specialist

The Training Gyms20 hours per week£16 per hour + uncapped commission and renewal bonuses

This is the detailed role information for the Phone Sales Closer and Renewals Specialist position. Please read it carefully before applying. The role is remote, approximately 20 hours per week, pays £16 per hour, equivalent to £16,640 per year at 20 hours per week, plus uncapped commission on qualifying Challenge sales and additional bonuses linked to renewal performance, and includes weekly call coaching and performance tracking. Qualifying Challenge sales are personally closed sales that are collected, started and remain active through Week 3. Proven performers may be offered up to 30 hours per week, equivalent to £24,960 per year.

About The Training Gyms

The Training Gyms helps adults over 40 become stronger, fitter and more confident through structured, coached training.

We operate across Bedford, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Hitchin and St Albans.

We are building one central commercial team across all five locations.

The Role

We are looking for a confident phone-based closer to help warm enquiries and existing members decide whether the right next step is to start or continue with us.

Your main responsibility is to speak with suitable enquiries, understand what they want to achieve and help them decide whether the £497 6-Week Fit After 40 Challenge is right for them.

You will also handle renewals and membership conversations. That work matters, but the priority is clear:

You must be comfortable guiding conversations toward a clear decision, including asking for payment when the Challenge is the right fit. This is a phone-based sales role with responsibility for new enquiries and renewals, not an admin or appointment-setting-only role.

What You’ll Do

New client sales

  • Speak with warm leads who have recently enquired.
  • Handle booked phone-sales calls.
  • Understand their goals, concerns and readiness.
  • Explain the Challenge clearly.
  • Handle questions and objections.
  • Guide suitable prospects confidently through the decision and payment process.
  • Take payment and book the client’s first sessions.
  • Follow up with people who need more time.
  • Route suitable people to a Game Plan only when needed.
  • Record every outcome in the CRM.

Renewals and membership sales

  • Run renewal and continuation calls.
  • Speak with members considering cancellation.
  • Recommend the right next step: continue, freeze or cancel.
  • Follow up on unsigned agreements.
  • Chase overdue annual payments.
  • Recover failed payments where appropriate.
  • Record every decision and next action.
Renewals are important, but they are not the main hiring filter. We are hiring first for phone-closing ability.

Who We’re Looking For

You should apply if you:

  • Have proven experience closing sales over the phone.
  • Are comfortable asking for payment when the Challenge is the right fit.
  • Can listen to and work through common concerns, including ‘I need to think about it.’
  • Can explain value without rambling.
  • Can listen and ask useful questions.
  • Are commercially minded and motivated by results.
  • Can follow a process without sounding robotic.
  • Take ownership of follow-up and numbers.
  • Can work independently from a CRM.
  • Communicate warmly with adults over 40.

Fitness experience is useful but not essential. Phone-sales ability matters more than fitness-industry experience.

This role may suit an online personal trainer, nutrition coach, health coach or fitness professional who already understands how people make decisions about starting a health or fitness journey and wants reliable part-time income alongside their existing work.

What We Expect

  • Fast response to booked calls and callbacks.
  • Accurate CRM updates.
  • Reliable follow-up.
  • Professional handling of sensitive conversations.
  • Willingness to have calls reviewed.
  • Ability to accept feedback and improve quickly.
  • We measure outcomes, not just activity. Calls and appointments matter, but the result is members starting and continuing successfully.

Hours

This is a 20-hour-per-week role to start.

Initial planned hours:

DayHours
Monday8:00am–12:00pm
Tuesday4:00pm–8:00pm
Wednesday8:00am–12:00pm
Thursday4:00pm–8:00pm
Saturday8:00am–12:00pm

The exact blocks may change as lead and renewal demand becomes clearer. There may be an opportunity to increase hours to 30 or more per week after proven performance.

Pay and Commission

  • Base pay: £16 per hour, equivalent to £16,640 per year at 20 hours per week, before deductions
  • Additional hours: Proven performers may be offered up to 30 hours per week, equivalent to £24,960 per year
  • Commission: Uncapped commission on personally closed £497 Challenge sales that are collected, started and remain active through Week 3
  • Renewal bonuses: Additional monthly and annual bonuses linked to renewal performance and renewal cash collected

Full commission and bonus terms are explained to shortlisted applicants before the first conversation.

Personal Trainer | Member Success & Consultations

Milton KeynesSt AlbansFull-timeEmployed

Help adults over 40 feel stronger, safer and more confident through coaching, consultations and ongoing support. This is a full-time employed role for a qualified Personal Trainer who wants structured development, warm enquiries, a supportive team and a clear path into senior sales and leadership. It is based in Milton Keynes or St Albans, with a £32,500 base salary. OTE: £40,000.

About The Training Gyms

The Training Gyms help adults over 40 become stronger, fitter and more confident through structured, coached training.

Many of our members have never felt comfortable in a traditional gym. They may be nervous about exercise, managing an old injury or starting again after years away.

We currently operate across Bedford, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Hitchin and St Albans. Our team exists to help members start, stay and succeed.

The Role

As a Sales Assessor, you will be one of the main people members meet when they first contact us.

You will speak with new enquiries, book and sell the right next step, run Diagnostic and Game Plan sessions, take new members through their first appointments and help them continue successfully.

This is a full-time in-gym role combining in-person consultations, member experience and selected part-time trainer cover. You will be expected to follow our process, ask good questions, make clear recommendations and ask confidently for the appropriate commitment.

  • Identifying risks, solving problems and escalating issues appropriately
  • Completing accurate CRM notes and follow-up
  • Working with trainers and the central commercial team
  • Completing the 14-day onboarding

  • Are reliable, organised and willing to follow through
  • Have experience in sales, fitness, hospitality, recruitment, healthcare or customer-facing work
  • Care about helping adults over 40 feel safe and confident

This is not a role where you simply wait for members to arrive.

You will be expected to take ownership of conversations, follow up properly, know your numbers, complete your records and ask for the sale when the Challenge or membership is right for the person.

We review appointments, coach every work day and expect you to apply feedback quickly. You do not need to be perfect on day one. You do need to be coachable, honest and willing to improve.
