Hi. This is Mark from TheDVCC.com and today, I am going to talk to you about a magazine article I have just seen.
What Makes Victoria Beckham Skinny?
So you know when I am browsing through my female magazine on a Sunday afternoon, checking out the latest diet and weight loss advice, I came across the new wonder diet that is the “alkaline diet” the one that has enabled Victoria Beckham to look skinny in two days or something, I think.
Packaging Alkaline Diet As Marketing Strategy
Basically I have just read through it and it is the new alkaline diet. They are simply saying, it is kind of marketing to be fair. They are packaging up what is, you probably have noticed that we have been saying it a lot how you should eat alkaline foods, how you should be trying to be as alkaline as possible because bad things live in an acidic environment cancer and all the rest – but they have managed to package it up and call it an “alkaline diet” and this is the reason Victoria Beckham has lost so much weight.
So What’s Wrong With It?
Now, you know, I guess it is all good that they are kind of getting people to be more alkaline and that is always a good thing, but it is the same thing when they are looking at life through a straw. So here is a whiz up an alkaline smoothie. They are whizzing up an alkaline smoothie which is going to make you lose weight and basically it contains half mango, a banana, water, coconut which is good. Mango is not too bad and they got banana. So the thing is with these diets, like I say, they look at life through a straw. So they are trying to get you alkaline but they are not looking at the other factor. So for someone trying to lose fat and wanting to be healthier, for someone wanting to reduce chances of cancer and all the different types of diseases, bananas and things would not be the best option because, yes, they are going to be more alkaline but they also are getting fructose, which is a sugar, and if you have too much fructose, it is the same thing as eating too much sugar.
Being Healthy Is Not Focusing Only On One Thing
So I have seen this in diets that are given to cancer patients, they eat the same thing. They are trying to either increase the calories or make them alkaline or whatever, but they are giving them foods that also contain sugar. So they kind of not really thinking about the whole thing and that is the problem with diets. They are just kind of focus on one thing. So you can get small bits of positives from these kinds of things, the fact of going alkaline and being alkaline, but you have got to look at your whole diet, your whole nutrition, and your whole health rather than doing the usual things which is going on one specific diet and not thinking about the whole of your health.
Consider Your Whole Health and Life In General
So if you are reading this article, I do not know which magazine – Oh, it is in Reveal –I’m more of a Closer man myself – but if you read that, make sure that you notice or you think about the whole of your health and your life not just losing weight because, the same again, you are going to lose weight but not necessarily going to be healthier.
