When the temperature drops and the nights get darker, we all crave warming winter foods for comfort. A hot pudding really does finish off dinner perfectly on a chilly day, especially apple crumble! Believe it or not, we’ve found an apple crumble recipe that’s flourless and refined sugar free, but still hits the spot! Perfect for a Sunday afternoon treat 🙂
Ingredients (serves two)
For the apple filling:
- 2 green apples (or preferred apple of choice) peeled, cored and chopped.
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp water
- 1 tsp cinnamon
For the crumble topping:
- ¾ cup almond flour (ground almonds)
- ¼ cup coconut flour
- 1 tbsp coconut oil melted
- A pinch of Himalayan sea salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp Agave Nectar
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees
- Mix the chopped apple, cinnamon, lemon and water in a microwave bowl and heat for one minute
- Stir and microwave for another minute
- Repeat step 3 (heating the apples until soft) then set aside the apple filling
- In a bowl mix together the topping ingredients until a crumbly mixture forms
- Add the apple filling to an ovenproof ramekin/dish, top with the crumble and bake in the oven for approximately. 10 minutes
- Once the crumble starts to brown, gently give the topping a mix to ensure it evenly cooks
- Bake for another 5 minutes, or until the crumble has turned golden
- For a real treat, serve with dairy free ice cream or Greek yoghurt
